If you are looking to the Milan shows for the sartorially superb, you need only look in one place – Z Zegna. The latest show which took place during Milan Fashion Week in January was an exercise in brand building.

For the second season outing, the label stuck to its familiar tailoring meets sportswear vibes. Under the tagline “Be your own style” technology and tailoring came together in a new and innovative way.

Innovation is key to Z Zegna. Here, that was achieved primarily through the fabrics used and the way that clothes were styled together. Fine Italian wools, authentic Irish and Scottish tweeds were treated with laser cut technology.

Essential to any autumn/winter technology is the collection of outerwear and at Z Zegna, deconstructed but still tailored coats were given a new lease of life in textured tweeds, layered with techno knitwear and sweatshirts.

These tweeds were some of the strongest pieces shown, appearing in an eclectic mix of tweeded greys and textured black and white which complimented the camel, ivory, olive and bright yellow really well.

One of the standout pieces was the Icon Warmer jacket – developed to provide customised thermic protection from early autumn to the depths of winter it is a truly transitional item that features advanced integrated heat generating panels that are powered by a wireless charging system.

The heating system can last up to 13 hours and can be tailored to your specific needs. As sufferers of many a cold British winter, this sounds like the ideal garment to keep us going through those cold and dark nights.
