A basic white t-shirt is a fundamental item in anybody’s wardrobe. I’m unable to imagine an item of clothing, aside from underwear, that I have ever worn as often as the staple white tee. Its versatility is unmatched. The white t-shirt can be worn purely on its own or as a layering piece, whether that’s under a hoodie, sweater, overshirt or cardigan. There’s no denying that when you find your perfect white tee, you’ll never go back.

It would be easy to head to the cheapest fast fashion brands in your t-shirt hunt, but the fit may not match up to your expectations. It would be just as easy to invest in designer pieces, but your t-shirt would be plastered with a potentially unwanted logo. No, for the perfect white t-shirt, I would always advise heading to shops which offer a more minimal look.

Arket is a great all-rounder for clean, minimal basics that won’t break the bank. For a high street store, it offers a wide range of sleek, Scandi-style pieces that could easily pass for something much more expensive.

Arket’s Heavyweight T-Shirt is my favourite tee, and has been for some time. It is my ultimate go-to for daily wear.

With a fit that leans slightly more on the relaxed side, this tee offers everything you need in a basic. The crew neck sits incredibly well: neither too high nor too low. The tee is cut from the heaviest and sturdiest of Arket’s single jersey knits, weighing a decent 220 GSM. If you weren’t already tempting, it comes in at a super affordable £25.

I would urge anybody looking for the perfect white t-shirt to invest in one of Arket’s Heavyweight T-Shirts.
