Fashion heritage risen from the ashes

Founded in 1904 by Samuel Slater as a humble tailors shop, the name and stock has grown and diversified over the years to support all who wish to dress to impress in the finest labels, quality fabrics and premium tailoring.

From the ashes of a devastating building fire in 1973, the brand soon evolved into the go-to for premium menswear when Samuel Slater’s son, Ralph, stirred the brand away from manufacturing and devoted their business to retail. Ralph built the business backup from scratch after the unprecedented accident, infusing his and his fathers passion for suiting into the new Slaters we know and love today.

Slaters conquered the suiting space with an expansion of 25+ stores in the 90s and more still to come planting their flag across the UK such as Bristol and Bromley.

The autumn/winter starter pack

Among Slater’s vast range of premium garments, there are a couple I would label as autumn essentials you need to complete your capsule wardrobe.

No.1

A wool three-piece suit cut to precision in a tailored fit style which provides a timeless silhouette with a shaped waist and clean lines. Meet the Fellini Tailored green check suit, a perfect ensemble ready for fine dine, family occasions, business or even trips to the races. This suit does not disappoint, featuring a green and tan check design with notch lapels on both the jacket and waistcoat, contrasting buttons and tan trims. I recommend complimenting the buttonhole colours with  base layers and accessories that match the autumnal hues.

No.2

A tailored fit Barbour wax jacket, specifically the Ashby. Reworking the contemporary Engineered Bedale in a robust wax finish, the Ashby from Barbour is a timeless, practical winter-ready jacket. Constructed in Barbour’s signature 6oz Sylkoil waxed cotton, with a matte finish and a comfortable, lived-in feel. A staple jacket that will forever support the outdoor man as the perfect substitute to a tweed blazer.

No.3

A twill overshirt, the perfect alternative to a heavyweight jacket or oxford shirt. Dress prepared for the shifting seasons in the Brown Madrid Twill Coach Overshirt from Spitalfields. Cut to a regular fit for easy layering, this overshirt has been crafted from pure cotton for a breathable feel and features a multiple pocket design so you can keep all your much needed essentials close by.
