Riccardo Tisci finally unveiled his anticipated collaboration with Nike. Givenchy’s creative director has designed a modern day take of the iconic Air Force 1 basketball shoes, under the name ‘Nike RT’.

Tisci certainly has made a statement with this capsule collection. He has introduced two new styles, which include a mid-calf, and a knee-high boot style sneaker; infused with bright bold colours and retro designs.

The intention behind Tisci’s latest creation is to be gender neutral, so holds the potential to be appealing to a diverse global market.

The different forms of sneakers over the years have become revolutionary in the way we style them. The pairing of a simple classic suit with converse gives a relaxed feel, and has become a common trend that has arose from the pop culture scene.  Tisci’s design embraces this aspect and is shown in the US Vogue shoot that celebrated his collection. Joan Smalls wore the high boot style sneakers with a white, laced floral dress proving its versatility.

For Tisci, Nike RT stands for ‘strong without being loud’, and I certainly feel that the mid-calf style will be a new trend on the highstreets soon! This collaboration is sure to live up to its predecessor legendary status.
