British heritage label Notch London has just unveiled their collection for Spring/Summer 2015. In-keeping with their signature aesthetic, the collection focuses particularly on the detailing, drawing inspiration from British military and naval traditions.
The Henley Royal Regatta provided the inspiration to combine a modern attitude with classic traditional history to create stylish urban clothes. The collection has a very contemporary, relaxed quality to it despite also being smart and sophisticated, a mix that has been achieved through a very careful design process.
Outerwear bears many military touches like heavy-duty zips and double-breasted styles, most noticeably on the standout piece from the collection – the cavalry twill airfield jacket, while soft jersey fabrics elevate basic items like t-shirts into stylish statement pieces.
Shirts consist of re-imagined stripe designs as well as some which feature checked patterns – staples of any modern man’s wardrobe.
A very cool, modern colour palette accentuates the feel of the collection. Shades of blue and grey are dominant throughout with accents of bright sailor white, black and occasional bursts of bold colour.
The collection as a whole is very much a wearable one, but one comprised of stylish separates that can slot easily into any wardrobe. These classic pieces have enough of a contemporary edge to be fashionable now but with classic detailing will certainly remain stylish for many seasons yet to come.
Particular stand out pieces are the brilliant white trucker-style jacket that is sure to be a great layer for summer to be worn either on its own over plain jersey or styled under a navy coat for the colder days.
Also, the navy cotton blazer is another good layering tool for the warmer weather, and can be dressed up with a smart white shirt and tan brogues or else made more casual with a short sleeve patterned shirt, chinos and deck shoes.
