They say shoes are a girls best friend, well watches come close for us men. A good watch is a vital element in any outfit and in this article I showcase 4 men’s watch brands to look out for in 2017.
When looking to invest in a new watch it’s very easy to stick with the norm, shopping brands you recognise and brands that carry status. There’s nothing wrong with this but the watch game is strong right now and you can often find hidden gems elsewhere.
There are hundreds of brands out there who create stunning timepieces which you’ve probably never heard of before, and for this very reason I wanted to bring a few to your attention and showcase what watches to look out for in 2017.
The good news?
Every watch brand recommended in this article focus on building quality, long lasting watches but keep the cost under £200. Affordable quality guaranteed.
Let’s dive in…
Harcourt London
There are 3 words that sum up Harcourt London as a brand… Classic, Understated and Quality.
They produce high quality, exclusive watches that are extremely affordable. Nothing beats a minimal design in my eyes and the understated branding alongside the classic colour ways make these watches versatile.
Take The Dunmore model for example, the gold casing contrasts the black watch face nicely making the watch look extremely elegant. The black suede strap adds to this elegance but also makes it more of a casual watch, making it perfect to wear with both formal and casual attire.
Ranging from £130 – £150 Harcourt London is definitely a brand to watch in 2017, and I’ve got my eyes on The Taylor.
Aion Watches
Keep a close eye on this brand as they enter a competitive market with a clear ambition. Aion Watches are all about combining simplistic design and quality materials to create timeless watches that can be worn at any occasion.
If you’ve read any of my other articles here on MFM you’ll know that I’m one for versatility. Building a wardrobe around staples that you can wear over and over again in multiple ways really is the most effective way to upgrade your style. It’s the same with watches…
A luxury watch is great but is it something you can wear with casual attire? Is it something you can wear over and over again without the fear of losing it or damaging it? If you want to save money whilst looking good the Aion Watch is one to consider.
Every watch is carefully crafted with timeless craftsmanship passed down by their forefathers. Incorporating high-quality functionality and build quality the watches are built to stand the test of time.
The price is another stand out feature, costing just £75 for a watch that’s going to stand the test of time and can be worn with multiple outfits.
The Original Baron is a personal favourite of mine, it’s 40mm in diameter and has a superb Japanese Quartz movement. With a genuine leather strap (I’d chose the brown leather) it’s stylish but functional.
Emerton Scott
Another British brand to watch out for is Emerton Scott, offering beautifully designed watches with a simple personal touch.
Again with a focus on craftsmanship and the use of the finest quality materials, they’ve spent the last 2 years perfecting the concept and designing their collection.
What I love about Emerton Scott the most is the personalisation and attention to detail. From the packaging to the personal engraving this is a watch you can be proud of owning.
Emerton Scott offer luxury watches without the huge mark ups, and you can get your hands on one in March 2017 for just £139.
Kartel Watches
Last but not least Kartel Watches originate from Scotland and are someone to keep a close eye on in 2017.
Building on 250 years of local watchmaking history the aim to produce a modern classic watch inspired by the dramatic landscape and industrial heritage of Scotland.
All watches are designed in Scotland and their designers approach their work with a rare passion. As with the other brands referenced in this article already, Kartel Watches are all about affordable quality.
They keep the price down through owning their own production facilities meaning the costs associated with a third party factory are bypassed and the saving is passed onto the customer.
With prices starting at £65 and with every watch having their exclusive 3 year warranty, you really have nothing to lose.
My favourite? I’ve just picked up the KT Kendrick.
This 2017…
So there we have it, 4 watch brands to keep an eye on for 2017.
From Aion’s simplistic design to Kartel’s heritage it’s truly refreshing to see attention being placed on craftsmanship with prices that are extremely affordable.
Remember to choose a watch that is versatile and best suits your personal style.
