The daily commute is no longer defined by a single journey between home and the office. As hybrid working becomes firmly established across the UK, people are reshaping how they move through the day, combining work with exercise, social activities and personal commitments in ways that would have been far less common just a few years ago.

According to the Office for National Statistics, hybrid working has become the new normal for many employees, with 28% of working adults in Great Britain now working in a hybrid model.* As a result, the commute has evolved into a series of interconnected moments rather than a single daily journey.
Today’s routine might begin with the school run before heading into the office including a coffee meeting between appointments, a lunchtime gym session or wellness class, an afternoon working from a café and an evening game of padel with friends. Among younger generations, daily routines are becoming increasingly intentional, with wellbeing, productivity and flexibility taking greater priority.
As routines become more varied, expectations of everyday products are changing too. Consumers are looking for footwear that moves effortlessly between different moments in the day, balancing lightweight comfort, versatility and style.

Designed for people constantly on the move, HEYDUDE creates with this new reality in mind. The collection supports modern routines, whether that’s the journey into the office, working from a café or meeting friends after work. Rather than being designed for a single destination, HEYDUDE is made for everything that happens in between.
THE COMFORT CLASS LOUNGE – LONDON, SEPTEMBER 2026.
To mark the return to routine and bring the idea of the New Commute to life, HEYDUDE hosted the Comfort Class Lounge at 180 The Strand in London on Thursday 10 September.

The one-day-only co-workspace offered guests a comfortable base within their morning commute, with space to work, meet and take a break between appointments. Visitors settled in for brunch, browsed the latest HEYDUDE collection and caught up with the brand team.
The Comfort Class Lounge reflected the changing shape of the working day, where the commute increasingly encompasses the places and moments around work rather than simply the journey to and from the office.
As people return to work, school and new routines this autumn, HEYDUDE’s Paul Pro Classic for men and Austin Lift Clog for women showcase the brand’s approach to lightweight, all-day comfort for every part of the new commute.
