Spring and Summer collections always get us longing for the slightest bit of sunshine, and it has become a shared opinion how many of us are longing to shed out scarfs and coats in favour of showing off our summer brights. One collection that celebrates the impending spring is that of luxury brand Drake’s.

The collection is not only a celebration of the warmer seasons, but also of the craftsmanship and the people that bring it all together. British and Italian master craftsmen have used ever skill and talent they have to bring life and vibrancy into a collection that is all about a passionate focus on progressive textile combinations and print designs that encourage the everyday gent to be a little bolder.

Daniel Harris for Drake's SS14Prints that feature within the collection are of a wonderful and uplifting variance, ranging from Indian tableaux and batik for sophisticated and expressive scarves to ties embrace modern paisley, graphic tartan, gentle floral and fine polka dot. Many styles that are seen as traditional but Drake’s have infused a sense of innovation within each piece.

The enthusiasm for this collection can be summed up in the words of the Creative Director of Drakes Michael Hill:

“We’ve delighted in championing ‘Made in Britain’ for 37 years and with the London Cloth Co we have found a kindred spirit; an operation with a passion for craft and quality but also striving to marry artisan traditions with progression and invention.   And, of course, we love the fact the weavers are located in the heart of London, not far from where Drake’s makes its ties, by hand, in Shoreditch’s Haberdasher Street. The Drake’s look is stylishly playful and comprises pieces, all made by hand, that men will want to come back to and mix up, time and time again.  In sharing SS14 we also wanted a sense of authenticity- celebrating the craftsmanship of our wares and those who make it happen.”

Daniel Harris for Drake's SS14 2Here at MFM, a hint of sun is all it takes to lift our love and enthusiasm for some summer colour. So we have become particularly obsessed with the colour palette used for these wonderful pieces. The fabrics used are luxurious and refined and feature some of the crispest linens, the softest cottons and the finest raw silks you could ever hope to touch.  Colours in particular that we love include the warm spiced tones of cinnamon and saffron, turquoise, a rich pillar box red and the masculine khaki.  For the more traditional of us there are nods to lazy summer days with subtle uses of blues and lemons.

This is simply a small representation of what will be available for the upcoming season, both in store at No.3 Clifford Street, London, W1S 2LF and online at www.drakes-london.com. We suggest you head over ASAP and begin building your SS14 wardrobes.
