It’s always interesting to note the theme running through a collection and, with the lookbook of the Bellfield AW14 collection released; it is safe to say the theme is inspired by the council estate lifestyle. The lookbook contains images consisting of sweatshirts, oversized outerwear and padded jackets with a row of flats, edging around a council estate as the back ground.
The mixture of fabrics shown in the lookbook adds to the many layers within the collection itself. We have denim that has been adapted for the autumn/winter seasons and vintage washes. In addition there is twisted knitwear and 3D patterns adding to an overall Nordic-inspired look.
The brand, only two years old, has become well known for their swimwear and now, with the sleek designs in this collection, we can only see how much they’ve evolved. With these two years Bellfield has broken into retailers such as Selfridges, ASOS and Footasylum.
The opposition between the back drop and designs within the latest collection makes for an interesting addition to the brand where big names such as Warren Brown and Newton Faulkner have been seen wearing Bellfield clothes. The mix of extra thought and awareness shows Bellfield’s continued passion for design and style.
