In the words of ABBA, somehow I’d be doing alright if it wasn’t for the nights. That’s right, the dark nights are on their way, but that doesn’t mean your wardrobe has to follow suit. For those of you thinking about joining a sports team this season, it’s time to step up your style and get game-ready! From bright colours to bold prints, don’t let summer have all the fun and try something different this autumn.
Kit and Knit
Let’s kick off the sporting season with some looks that’ll get you from the pitch to the pub in no time. Whether you like running, rowing or rugby, here are some of our favourite sporty picks for autumn. For the kit part, polo and rugby shirts are always great ways to get that sporty look; even if you don’t play sports like me! And when you’re off the pitch, some of these knitwear items can be simply paired with some jeans or sweatpants. Brands like Gio-Goi, Lacoste and Firetrap always showcase sporty items so either click online or get down to your local stores to ‘sport up’ your wardrobe. Just because this style is sporty, doesn’t mean that it can’t be stylish; this orange Henri Lloyd jumper, for instance, is bang on trend right now!
Once upon a time, sports coats were confined to specialist outdoor shops, but have recently been adopted into high end collections from Paul Smith to Burberry. And this is especially true of quilted jackets and gilets. What I like about the latter is that it is sleeveless so you can show off your shirts and knitwear (stylish!) whilst keeping your body warm (functional!). With this selection of coats, you’ll be ready to face anything from early morning lectures to 10km runs in the dark.
Let’s be honest, when you think of sports you immediately think of sweatpants. Well that’s exactly what I’m going to give to you. The following will be perfect whether you’re pumping iron in the gym or spending a cosy and comfy night by the fire. To tell you the truth, it’s sometimes nice just to slip into something a little more comfortable after a hard day’s night. So there’s no shame in dressing down once in a while.
New semester, new sneakers
You guessed it! This look would not be complete without some snazzy sneakers. Since the craze of the first Nike Air Jordan’s (circa 1984), trainers have been a staple in most men’s wardrobes. That’s right, sports teams and their players have influenced fashion so much that these innovative sneakers are still being made today (28th generation). So now it’s your turn to step into the new semester with some stylish new sneakers.
