One of the UK’s biggest and best known heritage tailors, Aquascutum are developing a made to measure tailoring service for men. Set to launch in February 2015, it will have a presence in the Great Marlborough Street and Jermyn Street stores.
Motivated by its recent financial situation, the move brings back the made to measure tailoring service. Head of menswear design, Mr Thomas Harvey says, “It is something that we felt had been missing in the range since the flagship on Regent Street closed in 2011, but we didn’t have the facilities to support it.”
The return of the service could not have come at a better time. Since 2011, there have been frequent requests for the service, especially after the Jermyn Street store opened in June and occupies a 1,268 sq ft space.
Whilst details are a little scarce at this time, we can tell you that the price range will be around £700 to £750. As we would expect from such an established brand, the range will use a variety of fabrics and a selection of stripes and checks. You can also expect a classic colour palette of navy, grey, black and brown.
Aquascutum are also working with a Portugal based supplier for its tailoring to ensure great quality for the same level as retail prices. You can expect a two piece for around £450 (from £575) and to pay around £950 for a top end three piece. All you have to do now is patiently wait to be able to get your hands on it next year.
