It seems these days that many music stars are moving forward with becoming part of the fashion crowd, not just those that wear it but those that create it too. The latest music star to add their creativity to something wearable is musician and entrepreneur Will.i.am.
He has announced that he will be launching his eyewear brand which has has named ill.i.optics. The line will arrive in stores and online in the autumn of 2014, and clearly stems from his passion for experimental eyewear and sunglasses. It is with Will.i.am’s long time friend, designer George Gorrow that the collaboration manifested. The collection will include progressive and innovative sunglasses and optical styles for men and women, designed by George Gorrow under the creative direction and influence of will.i.am.
The inspiration for the designs have said to be from memorable moments from Will.i.am’s early career and influences from 1980’s hip hop icons.
Will.i.am said: ”I see a gap in the world of eyewear and this is my installment of what I feel is missing. I want this to be an honest brand – it’s about dedication and passion.”
ill.i Optics will be available in stores from September, launching with a multi-channel global campaign.
