Valentino, co-founded by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pieraolo Piccioli, was heralded just last year for using colours in a new way when it comes to men’s footwear. Now, the AW14 collection sees Valentino doing what they do best and continuing to push the boundaries with an update in old classics and a focus on new additions.

Valentino’s popular camouflage design has been reused in the latest collection but has been updated in order to suit the continued evolution of the brand. Colour is, once again, proving to be a strong force in the collection and old favourites are being used. From browns to reds and oranges to blues, the colours are used against spiked heels, uppers and suede fabrics.

As is the way with Valentino there is a strong focus on the patterns and designs used. With the AW14 we see military-inspired runners and leopard and tiger prints upon pony skin fabrics. Valentino doesn’t stop there and offers a casual white option with colour-blocks and high-tech leather.

Valentino believe in their latest collection and are calling out all the stops. They invited celebrity photographer, Terry Richardson, to photograph the campaign whose manner was to shoot tattooed arms to wear the footwear rather than feet. Valentino continues to surprise us and, with the collection already available for pre-order we can be surprised all over again.
