The weather may not have made its mind up yet, but the meteorological calendar says that summer is officially here. Lyle & Scott’s High Summer edit has caught the eyes of many a fashion editor recently, and I’ve put together a few of my favourite recommendations from the collection.
Denim Shorts (£60)
Denim shorts and warm weather go hand in hand as perfectly as fish and chips, strawberries and cream and Robson and Jerome. They’re a true winner, and when paired with a drawstring waist, the comfort levels are endless. It’s a colour that can be paired with, well, anything. You’re guaranteed to be able to create a sleek outfit for any occasion with a piece like this. Kick about in the park? White shorts. Quick stop at the pub? White shorts, obviously. Dinner on holiday? White shorts, of course. Jokes aside, these particular shorts were produced with sustainability in mind, as they’re made of 15% recycled cotton. Top all of that off with the classic Lyle & Scott branding on the leg, and these bad boys should be in your basket before you finish reading this.
Oxford Shirt With Short Sleeve (£50)
This quintessential Oxford Shirt comes in nine different colour ways, giving you plenty of options when it comes to building your summer wardrobe. Given the fact this shirt is so reasonably priced for its quality, it’s fair to think you could definitely snap up more than one. The choice of colour allows for versatility in your outfit choices, and the classic Oxford design ensures lightweight, everyday wear. This piece can certainly be worn as a button-up with trousers or chinos, or layered over a t-shirt with shorts, giving you the choice between smart and casual.
Striped Polo Shirt (£55)
The Lyle & Scott Polo is an absolute standard for British menswear. The iconic logo on the chest is instantly recognisable, and the brand have certainly perfected the Polo over the years. Stripes, as I have mentioned in previous write-ups, are a serious summer go-to and are perhaps the one pattern that is most easily worn. The sleeves on this shirt are generous, creating a refined shape to suit all body types, as opposed to a super short sleeve. This item would be well suited for a day-to-night transition, as it would look just as sharp for a walk in the park or an evening ‘do.
These are just a few of the points that solidify this shirt’s place as a real classic.
