Filson and Shinola have launched a range of stylish and unique watches as part of their first collaborative project together. The result? The range combines Filson’s passion for high quality and durability with Shinola’s eye for eye-catching design.
As the companies themselves have stated, “the watches are built for the outdoors with uncompromising quality to withstand the demands of the field.” While they tick the durability box, they are also eye-catching fashion accessories in their own right.
Outdoor-wear manufacturers Filson have a rich history dating back to 1897. Since then, they have built up a reputation for creating clothing that is suitable for extremely harsh conditions. In the words of the company themselves, they create gear as tough as the men who wore it.
Shinola are known for their Detroit-built watches, bicycles, journals, leather goods, and of course, their shoe polish. Re-established in 2011, Shinola stands for skill, the preservation of craft, and the beauty of industry.
When asked about the collection, Gray Madden, President of Filson, was all enthusiasm. “Filson and Shinola share a dedication to American manufacturing and products that are built to last. We are proud to join forces with Shinola to create these watches built for action using materials of the highest standards.”
Assembled by hand in Shinola’s state-of-the-art Detroit watch factory, the watches come in two categories; the Mackinaw Field and the Journeyman. Within these categories, there are currently twenty-three watches available on their site.
The Mackinaw Field watches include three-hand and chronograph versions, while the Journeyman is available as a GMT and chronograph, both with a World-Timer feature. Staying true to Filson’s signature materials, all straps are made with Bridle Leather and Dry Tin Cloth, along with nylon, rubber, and Horween leather.
The watches are available through Filson stores, www.filson.com, and select retailers. If unbeatable durability and unique style weren’t enough, every watch is guaranteed for life under the terms and conditions of the warranty. Not many things last a lifetime anymore: these watches, however, are guaranteed to stand the test of time.
