There are only a few brands whose names are synonymous with luxury and Salvatore Ferragamo is one of those. The brand that started with designing the shoes of Hollywood stars in the 1920s has now unveiled its SS15 collection, which you can take a look at here.
The pattern of moving the weight of fabric away from the body which we saw at LC:M with designers like E. Tautz is continued in the Ferragamo collection designed by Massimilano Giornetti. The effect is achieved with the optical effects of weaves and graphics and superb Italian tailoring and super light fabrics, utilised to great effect in the overcoats and belted double breasted jackets.
Prints have always been key to Ferragamo designs and for spring, large giraffe prints hide inside the lining, this is also used on the print of the lux silk shirts. Bucking the trend for short shorts, here they are knee length and wide, perfect for keeping cool in the Mediterranean heat, worn with high soled shoes and sandals with thick fringes.
Spring does not mean florals and pastel shades – the Ferragamo colour palette features intense sandy brown, rust and dark blues and greens with beige and off white which come together to encapsulate the modern, travelling gent that Salvatore Ferragamo is all about. Excited yet? You should be.
