Last month, ground-breaking sneaker collectors Fresh Laces took over the menswear department in Harvey Nichols Manchester and hosted a one-day sneaker pop-up event, showcasing exclusive kicks, sneaker art, luxury street wear, custom sneakers and sneaker accessories. With prices ranging from £150 to £4,500, many of the one-off pairs sold out within days of release.
The first of its kind in the UK, the Fresh Laces Sneaker Spot hosted over a hundred exclusive Nike kicks such as the first Nike Air Yeezys, Patta Air Max 1s and Supreme Foamposites.
According to the company, “we aim to keep each event Fresh and inspiring by sourcing the rarest kicks, keeping our eye on the hottest street-wear/fashion brands and selecting the best creative talent emerging out of the UK.”
With the help of fashion icons such as Kanye West and Pharrell Williams, sneakers have recently crossed over from realms of sportswear into mainstream fashion. Fresh Laces was born out of the desire to create sneaker and lifestyle events, enabling sneakerheads to meet up to buy, sell and network with each other.
The lifestyle element provides a platform for up-and-coming fashion brands and contemporary artists who are influenced by the sneaker and hip-hop culture, to showcase their work.
Darren Skey, Head of Menswear at Harvey Nichols, commented on the brand’s excitement in the collaboration. “Fresh Laces source limited edition kicks from around the world to cater for the growing sneakerhead community, who strive to possess both the latest releases and the original classics from the early 90’s to present day. It’s great to be able to offer our customers something unique and different.”
