Margaret Howell is a top name in the fashion world, always creating interesting and original collections, now we have her subtle and dark autumn/winter collection, showing off tweed, parkas and jackets. For us fashion enthusiasts we will recall some of these pieces already having been on display in the flagship store during London Collections: Men, already, therefore, lucky to have had a taster.
The collection takes inspiration from the designer’s British roots and consists of navy, black and a merge of white. The colours are used with outerwear, wool roll neck knitwear’s and tweed jackets. The air of Britishness is strong and has been captured by photographer Glen Luchford. The shoot took place in Essex and included upcoming models Karlina Caune and Matthew Johnstone.
Howell’s career is extensive and her latest collection shows this. Her decision to shoot the lookbook outdoors nods to her work with Gore-Tex when they worked on wind resistant waterproof jackets. Along with that, she has worked with the footwear company Norman Walsh, creating fast drying running shows.
Summer may be here but the Autumn/Winter collections are tumbling in, details and lookbooks, fabrics and colours, all adding to our excitement for the seasons ahead. Each season offers us a variety of options and, if Margaret Howell’s new collection is anything to go by, there will be a lot of them.
