Back in 1874, William Lyle and Walter Scott founded their knitwear business in Hawick, a town along the Scottish boarders that is famous for that particular type of attire. Fast-forward to 2014 and the brand is now celebrating it’s 140th year in the industry.

They’ve created two lines of clothing, which pay homage to how far they’ve come and they’ve taken inspiration from their most innovative and iconic designs to date. The ‘140’ and ‘1960’ collections commemorate their strong manufacturing roots and growth through the golfing industry

The 140 range is an eleven piece capsule collection, which will be released in full later this year as part of the autumn/winter line. It introduces a key trend for this season, tartan, to their classic polos and knits.

The 1960 collection will be integrated into the brand alongside the other successful golfing collections that are classically modern. The pieces include traditional knitwear in the typical Lyle and Scott argyle diamond patterns, alongside strong golfing colours playing a part.

The items in these lines feature the original Lyle & Scott logo which is indicative of where the label started 140 years ago, and an embroidered tonal eagle sitting proudly on the sleeve, which a subtle reminder of where they are today.

Be it you’re a keen golfer, or like many you just love the contemporary yet elegant feel of their designs, Lyle & Scott offer a timeless look everyone could do with in their wardrobe.
