For Spring/ Summer 15, casual-luxe label Lightning Bolt has offered up a development of their brand’s signature style. Known for their casual surfer-esque image, the brand has updated their branding, this season making it bold and very clean through their use of carefully selected details, stich, trim and choice of materials.

Particular attention has been paid to ensuring the longevity of the collection.  Focus has been put on the technical fastenings, industrial yet smooth seams and waterproof detailing, all of which contribute to ensuring that these clothes are robust and as ready for adventure as their wearer.

An example of this attention to detail is the range of updated board-shorts, all of which come in a variety of functional fabrics with technical closures and water shed pockets. Other examples come from the Roy short, which has been updated with utility pockets, breathable bedford cord and is constructed from comfortable stretch cotton.

As well as shorts, Lightning Bolt have focused on the details of their jackets and outerwear. The Bermuda waterproof jacket features cotton line sleeves and a back vent for breathability, while the Civilian jacket, which is new to the collection, is made from printed hemp cotton and is reversible with a solid colour on one side and a micro camouflage face print on the reverse side.

As for the knitwear, a long staple cotton yarn has been used and knitted into several different stich patterns and mouline colours. The colours are expectedly bold and have been divided into three groups: indigo blue shades, washed greens and yellows and shades of red.

These primary colours have been the staple colours used by Lightning Bolt since the brand began and unsurprisingly make up the core colour palette in this collection, but the new styles and fabrications have pushed Lightning Bolt forward in their development to make them a thoroughly contemporary surfer label.
