Cult brand Les Benjamins has just released their new Spring/Summer collection for 2015, and have made a distinct move away from their urban inspired city centre squares of Autumn/Winter 14.
For this season, they are taking us on a trip to the desert, with a brighter colour pallet across the whole collection, as well as some specific summer details. Camouflage prints made entirely out of floral motifs are the most notable details for the new season (the bomber jacket in this print stands out in the collection) while combat trousers and track pants have all been updated with embossed padding and zip details at the knee.
Perhaps very appropriately, the key recurring slogan in the collection is “PAIX” – the French word for “peace” – and is embossed across the ‘Black-Line’ range of ready-to-wear sweaters and t-shirts.
There is also a nod to military influences, as the collection blends functionality and utility, but in a subtle way. Less of a soldier’s uniform, more of a functional wardrobe for an adventurer, with combat green and brown being the dominant colours and multiple pockets and external stitching details appearing both on trousers and on outerwear.
In addition to the mainline, the diffusion line “Less is More” shares the creative vision of the brand through vibrant prints for this season. Historical and cultural icons come together in prints to give a youthful, playful feel to the collection. Some of the most unusual combinations feature Albert Einstein with Miley Cyrus, and Rihanna with Cleopatra.
Constructed from high quality pima cotton, the collection shares the military inspired fits and cuts of the mainline, but they have been applied to a modern sportswear aesthetic to give a fresh take on two wardrobe staple styles.
Whichever menswear camp you are in, be it structure or sportswear, there is bound to be something in the collection right for you, even if that thing is a t-shirt with both Einstein and Miley on it.
