For centuries now, England has been the heart of the tailoring world. For nearly as long as we can remember, Ede & Ravenscroft have been making men look and feel more stylish.

Established in 1689 the brand has the title of the oldest tailors in London. Last week, they showed off their dapper new vision for autumn 2015.

The autumn/winter collection takes its inspiration from the elegance of the Edwardian era. Head of Design, Michael McGrath searched through the archives and was inspired by the brands deep rooted tailoring history.

While Spring suits tend to be looser and less formal, for winter the look is more refined and structured, with a strong focus on fabrics sourced from the finest mills in England, Scotland and Italy.

Just because its winter does not mean that all the colours have to be dark. The Ede & Ravenscroft collection features a rich colour palette of dark green and burgundy which are the perfect compliment to the grey and camel tones.

A forward thinking collection, the range comprises of four stories, these being Uniform, Out of Town, City Gent and Formal Dress. Examples of the uniform look can be found on outerwear, where inspiration came from Royal household uniforms featuring peaked lapels.

The city gent is our idea of the perfect working man look – classic camel and grey cashmere and wool blends have been tailored to perfection to make some truly incredible investment pieces.

The Out of Town series of pieces does exactly what it says on the tin – the sophisticated gent on a weekend in a country, sporting subtle windowpanes and block colour knitwear.

It is perhaps the Formal pieces that are most impressive though – opulent three piece suits in rich velvet and classic dinner jackets, accessorised to perfection.
