AW12 Fashion Trend: Patterned Knits

So the weather is getting a bit colder, and now is the perfect time to start stocking up on your winter essentials and this year patterned knitwear is a must. Whether it is a full on Christmas print or some subtle stripes – plain is definitely a no-go this winter. The great thing about this trend is that it gives you the option to experiment with how bold you want to be, if you want to keep things a bit simpler or go all out – as long as it has a print then anything goes.

You need to make sure your bottom half is kept very simple, a pair of slim jeans will be perfect teamed with some neutral coloured shoes or trainers; this is so the jumper is the star of the outfit and to make sure you don’t look too print crazy! If you are feeling adventurous then go for mixed colours and bold prints, but if you are after something a little more reserved then opt for one colour prints, such as a green jumper with different green toned patterns.

For that little bit of luxury treat yourself to this jumper by Gucci but if that isn’t in your budget then Topman have got some great alternatives to choose from. The best thing about this trend is that it’s currently widespread, so whatever budget or needs you require you’ll be able to find a patterned knit at your favourite retailer.

Keep accessories to a minimum – like I have already mentioned you need to keep the knitwear the star of the show, but as it is getting very chilly layer it up with a chunky knit scarf to keep you nice and cosy. You could also try layering these jumpers with shirts underneath for extra warmth.

These jumpers are a perfect Christmas present for all styles and all ages – just keep in mind that the person you are buying for may prefer something a bit subtle instead of a outrageous design!
